Project Title: The Role of Robots in Service Recovery

Project Coordinator: Assoc. Prof. Esra Arıkan

Researchers: Assoc. Prof. Neşenur Altıniğne, Dr. Ebru Kuzgun

Based on attribution and anthropomorphism theories, this project investigates whether and how consumers respond differently based on the service provider agent (SPA) types (human, humanoid, and non-humanoid) in terms of attributional processes, forgiveness, and satisfaction in the presence and absence of recovery after a service failure. The project results were published in the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services in 2023.

Project Title: Investigation of the Relationship Between Consumption Habits and Vulnerability in Access to Resources with Self-Regulation in Consumption During the Coronavirus Precautions Period: Determining the Impact of Psychological Well-Being, Individual Resilience, Social Capital, and Prosocial Behaviors and Developing Policy Recommendations

Project Coordinator: Prof. Elif Karaosmanoglu

This project aims to observe the effect of the change in the consumption habits of vulnerable and non-vulnerable consumer groups on the psychological well-being of consumers during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond. Then, the mechanisms that will enable the psychological well-being of consumers to create individual and social capital and exhibit pro-social behaviors will be examined and their effects on self-control mechanisms in consumption in the future will be tested. This study aims to reveal the roles and mechanisms of vulnerable and non-vulnerable consumption groups in protecting economic resilience in possible future crisis periods in our country and suggest appropriate measures for COVID-19. The project results were published in the Journal of Consumer Behavior in 2024.
